Environmental Pollution in Iraq and Nineveh Governorate A study on the causes and sources of air pollution
Air pollution resulting from human activity is one of the most serious consequences of environmental pollution in general and industrial development in particular. This pollution poses a serious threat to both public health and the environment. In 2016, the World Health Organisation (WHO) issued an air quality model that states that 91% of the world's population lives in areas that do not comply with the annual concentration guidelines for fine pollutants in the air around them. Pollution includes substances such as sulphates, nitrates, ammonia, mineral dust and carbon, and reducing exposure to these harmful pollutants to minimise harm to public health is a priority for individuals and governments alike.
