Under the auspices of the Presidency of the Nineveh Provincial Council, and in a first step among the provincial councils of Iraq, the East Gate Organization for Sustainable Development, specialized in institutional development, research and studies, held a focused training workshop led by local government formation experts Engineer Aqeel Muslim and Engineer Raad Ahmed on:
Basic functions of local governments between responsibilities, powers and challenges
for ladies and gentlemen members of the Nineveh Governorate Council on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 in the city of Mosul, and the workshop included the following themes:
- Decentralization and local government.
- Elements of good democratic governance.
- The five functions of local government and powers.
- Achievements of previous legislative sessions.
- Institutional development programs and building the skills of members.
- Challenges and the Council's work plan for the year 2024.
At the end of the session, the Chairman of the Provincial Council, Dr. Ahmed Al-Hasoud, Mr. Muhammad Abdullah Al-Jubouri, Deputy Chairman of the Council, and Mr. Yahya Abdul Mahjoub, President of the Orient Gate Organization, distributed certificates of participation to the participating ladies and gentlemen members.
